Gluster

I uploaded overnight a new short podcast talking about the re-arranged Gluster Community Day that the Gluster team at Red Hat are re-arranging for mid October. I also talk about a Red Hat Storage Webinar that is coming up next week. Also on the 10th and 11th of September is a two day installfest for the RDO Openstack crew as part of the Havana milestone three that comes around next week on 9th September.

You can find more information on the RDO Havana Test Day by following this link. My thanks go to Rich Bowen, Perry Myers and the amazing crew working on RDO and Openstack engineering goodness.

Download the podcast in MP3 format here - or alternatively browse the RSS or use iTunes.

Due to unforseen circumstances with venue / scheduling we are having to move the Gluster day to an alternate venue and hence a new date, more than likely the 17th October. Talking to venues now and will have more info available by early next week. These things happen and at least it's not that a big deal.

We are working on this now so as soon as there is something to say I promise we'll have the pertinent registration info out to people as soon as we can in plenty of time for travel arrangements.

If you're into Cloud and virtualisation you can't fail to have noticed that VMWorld is in full flow and heading into it's final throes at the Moscone Centre in San Francisco. We've made several announcements there mainly around OpenStack certification and training and also CloudForms which has been a puller to the booth (come see our team at Booth 522). I recorded a podcast last week with Bryan Che, which is indexed below which talks about CloudForms and VMWorld and I am supplementing it with a show I recorded midweek this week.

In the show I also talk about the London Gluster Community day happening at London SouthBank University on September 10th. I mention in the podcast a link to the Eventbrite registration page which you can find here.  I will be there, podcasting, so you could even end up on a show if you come along. I'll be doing more podcasts on the event in the run up with John Mark Walker so keep your ears peeled. So far we have the following line up for the day itself.

Gluster Community Day Agenda

10:00am - 10:30am - Snacks, introductions, networking

10:00am - 10:30am - The State of the Gluster Community

10:30am - 11:30am - What's New in GlusterFS 3.4

11:30am - 12:30pm - Adventures in Cloud Storage - Using GlusterFS and OpenStack

12:30pm - 1:30pm - Lunch (on site)

Thanks to John Hardy of Red Hat Cloud BU for the photo above which he sent me overnight taken at the booth, showing lots of VMWorld attendees wearing their Red Hat caps. Got to love a bit of skunk marketing.

If you are planning on visiting VMWorld this week in San Francisco (see map here of locations across the show campus) please make sure to take time out to visit Booth 522 and meet my colleagues from Red Hat who are in attendance.

We will be talking Red Hat Open Hybrid Cloud, demonstrating CloudForms and the latest beta 2.1 which includes support for OpenStack, our OpenShift Enterprise platforms, Red Hat Enterprise Virtualisation and Red Hat Storage.

We love attending VMWorlds in the US and Europe and will also be attending the Barcelona show in the fall. It's always a busy booth packed with people wanting to know more about where we are at with Cloud.

More importantly this year for the first time we're demonstating CloudForms and it's ability to kick the ass of every other VMWare friendly virtualised environment across cloud types. It's a game changer that has analysts and the press alike talking about how Red Hat has enabled Cloud management to become a realistic technology adoption curve for enterprises. Taking the game to VMWare and Microsoft for the first time and it's not for nothing that customers are really excited and adopting fast.

Make time out to go visit Booth 522. Tell them I sent you.
